New here?

We would love to welcome you to Watertower Bible Church, especially on a Sunday morning!

Whether you are looking for a new church family or you have questions about Jesus that you are exploring for yourself, you are welcome and we would love to journey with you.

We know that you might feel a bit nervous walking into a church, especially if it the first time or it has been a long time. We don’t expect everyone to be a Christian, in fact, we love it when people are coming to find out more about Jesus and Christianity.

If you are already a Christian, maybe you are seeking a new church that takes the Bible seriously, teaches Reformed theology, values Christian community, fellowship, prayer and worship - as well as having a big heart to see many others come to know and follow Christ.

What to expect

We are a church of people from all walks of life, that live and work in Kallangur, the Moreton Bay region and throughout North Brisbane. We have come together because we love Jesus, the Bible and are supporting each other to follow Him and look more like Him every day.

If you are not familiar with church, here’s what you can expect at our Sunday Service:

When you arrive, we will have a team of greeters at the front door, we would love to know your name and what brings you to church this morning so that we can welcome and support you! There is no pressure to sign up for anything or to wear a name tag - we are just excited to meet you and to introduce you to others.

During the service, we typically start with a short 5 minute talk from the Westminster Shorter Catechism - which is a series of simple questions and answers that help us to explain and understand more complex ideas about the Bible. Then there will be some singing, prayer, and a Bible talk (also called a sermon). You are very welcome to join in the singing, but you are also welcome to simply sit or stand and listen - no one is wondering what you are doing, we are focused on singing to God.

Afterwards, we fire up the coffee machine and stick around for good conversation too. We are a very social bunch, but if you are more introverted, you are still very welcome. This is a great time to meet some of our members, and always feel free to approach the person that preached the sermon, or any of our greeters or people you saw “up the front” if you have questions, if they don’t know the answer, they will find someone who does!

FAQs

How long is a service?

Our services usually run for about 90 mins

What should I wear?

You don’t need to dress up especially for us. Come as you are. Most people wear what they would when they are going out to the shops or out for a movie.

What about my kids?

They are so welcome too! Our kids join us for the first part of our service, the catechism, the music and the announcements - we feel this is really important as we value and love children as part of our church community and want them to feel connected and involved in our church together. During school terms children under the age of 10 then may move to our children's ministry for the Bible talk (sermon) portion. They will do some activities, have some more music and will have a Bible talk and discussion of their own. Our children’ ministry uses The Biggest Story curriculum. All of our children’s ministry workers have a Working With Children’s Check and complete annual child safety training. If you have any questions, please let our greeters know and they will be happy to introduce you to the children’s ministry leaders. We offer a family-friendly church service and look forward to welcoming you whether you are from Kallangur, Moreton Bay or further afield in North Brisbane.

Our program is designed for children under the age of 10, however if they are under school age we recommend that an adult accompany them until they are comfortable with our children's ministry leaders. You are always welcome to come out and check out the program too. The program is not a creche, so although we do include children under school age if they are happy to join in or play quietly with the free play toys, they may return to you if they are unhappy or disruptive to the program - there is also a play area at the back of the hall with toys in the cupboard you are welcome to utilise.

Where can I park?

There is plenty of on-street parking available on Marsden Rd, Kallangur, with a pedestrian gate to our hall. Look for the white church hall on the corner of Marsden and Narangba Rds.

Do I need to bring anything?

No, just yourself! If you do have a Bible, you will benefit from bringing it, and if you don’t have one and would like one, please let us know. We use the English Standard Version (ESV) for Bible readings.
